This Privacy Policy explains how PhotoCleaner handles photos, photo metadata, face-related processing, and other data. PhotoCleaner is designed as an on-device photo management tool. We do not operate a server for collecting user photos or analysis results.

Photos Permission

PhotoCleaner asks for access to your Photos library so it can help you analyze, organize, delete, convert, and manage photos and videos. You may grant full or limited Photos access through iOS.

The app reads photo and video assets only for features you use, such as local quality scoring, blur detection, duplicate grouping, screenshot classification, Live Photo conversion, HEIC conversion, video compression, and smart album views.

The app writes to your Photos library only when you explicitly perform an action that requires writing, such as saving a converted image or video. The app deletes items only after you explicitly choose a delete or cleanup action.

PhotoCleaner uses Apple on-device Vision APIs to detect whether a photo appears to contain a face and to estimate local face capture quality. This processing is used only to improve local photo quality scoring and to help protect photos containing faces from being automatically selected for deletion.

PhotoCleaner does not collect, upload, share, sell, or use face data for tracking or advertising. The app does not perform face recognition, does not identify people, and does not create biometric identifiers, faceprints, face templates, facial geometry profiles, or identity labels.

Face-related analysis results are not sent to any server. The app may keep a local, on-device cache such as a photo's local identifier, quality score, and a simple face-present flag so that it does not need to rescan the same item repeatedly. This cache stays on your device and is used only for app functionality.

Data Processed Locally

Depending on the features you use, PhotoCleaner may process the following information on your device:

  • Photos, videos, thumbnails, and related media data from the Photos library you authorized.
  • Photo metadata available through iOS Photos, such as local asset identifiers, media type, favorite status, file size, creation time, and media subtype.
  • Local analysis results, such as quality scores, blur indicators, exposure indicators, screenshot or utility classification, duplicate grouping information, and whether a face appears to be present.
  • App settings stored in iOS UserDefaults, such as whether face-photo protection is enabled.

All of the above data is processed for PhotoCleaner features and remains on your device. It is not uploaded to our servers.

iCloud Photos

If your Photos library uses iCloud Photos, iOS may download originals or thumbnails from Apple iCloud when PhotoCleaner requests an item that is not currently stored on your device. This is controlled by Apple's Photos and iCloud services. PhotoCleaner does not upload those photos to our servers.

Third-Party Services

PhotoCleaner does not include third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, third-party AI services, or tracking SDKs. The app does not use collected data for cross-app tracking.

When you tap a feedback option, your email client may open with our support email address pre-filled. Any email you send is sent by you through your own email provider and may include information you choose to provide.

Data Retention

Local app settings and local analysis caches remain on your device to support app functionality and improve performance. You can remove this local data by deleting the app from your device. Some data may also be refreshed or replaced when you rescan your library.

Items deleted through PhotoCleaner are handled by iOS Photos and may appear in the system Recently Deleted album according to Apple's Photos behavior.

Children's Privacy

PhotoCleaner is a general photo management utility and is not directed to children for the purpose of collecting personal information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes or when legal, platform, or operational requirements change. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
